Why do the PremiumSlides Maps have such good quality?

The most important factor in the high quality is the number of polygons used in a map. The number of polygons is responsible for the detail of the map. The more polygons you have, the more detail you see. But there is a negative to this; if there are too many polygons, PowerPoint will become very slugigsh and the file size will go up. Usually if you have multiple maps in one presentation, the file size can be very big and occasionally you may be unable to email your presentation. Then again fewer polygons bring less detail to the map. At PremiumSlides.com we found a way of optimizing the maps to have great detail by greatest performance and file size.

Facts about the World you can incorporate in your slide presentation.

The World has a total surface area of 510 million square kilometers. Land makes up around 149 million square km. Water constitutes about 361.132 million sq kilometers.

Most of the earth's surface is covered by water.

The surface of the world is more or less 70.9 percent water and 29.1 per cent terrain. The area covered by water is divided into vast water zones referred to oceans. There are 5 oceans described in the geographic science. The largest is the Pacific Ocean followed by the Atlantic Ocean, the Indian Ocean, the Southern Ocean and the smallest, the Arctic Ocean. The vast majority of water on the World's surface, more than 96%, is saline water.

The most widely used maps of World Regions.

The World is generally divided into a number of, large, discrete landmasses termed continents.

The number of continents can differ from 5 to 7, depending on the definition used. The most typical definition acknowledges 7 continents. In decreasing order of size these are: Asia, Africa, North America, South America, Antarctica, Europe, and Australia. Occasionally Europe and Asia are put together into the Eurasian continent resulting in six continents. Also North and South America are sometimes grouped as merely the Americas, resulting in a continent total of 6 (or five, if the Eurasia designation is used).

The Seven continent model and its countries

Based upon the seven-continent model, and grouping islands with adjacent continents the following facts can be seen: Africa has the the majority of countries with 54. Europe includes 49 countries. Asia has 48. The Asian and European continents share five countries: Azerbaijan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkey and Georgia. North America consists of 23 sovereign states. Oceania has 14 states and South America includes 12 countries.

More details on the continent maps from largest to smallest:

Asian Continent Maps

Asia incorporates all the countries of the Philippines, Malaysia, and Indonesia. The countries of the Pacific ocean are often combined with Australia into a "land mass" termed Oceania or Australasia.

African Continent Maps

Corresponding with a wide definition Africa's northeast region is frequently delimited at the Isthmus of Suez. However for geopolitical reasons, the Egyptian Sinai Peninsula is frequently included as part of the African continent.

Although the described groupings are the most common, different continental arrangements are known or promoted in several parts of the globe. This is as a consequence of some arrangements being more intensely based on cultural spheres rather than physical geographic factors.

North American Continent Maps

North America (not the USA) is mostly understood to encompass the island of Greenland, the Caribbean islands, and to extend south all the way to the Isthmus of Panama.

European Continent Maps

The most extended part of Europe is commonly described as being the Ural Mountains and the Ural River. On the southeast it is the Caspian Sea; and on the southern area the Caucasus Mountains, the Black Sea, and the Mediterranean. Additionally some sections of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Russia, and Turkey are often incorporated within both Europe and Asia, Nevertheless in every instance the larger section is in Asia. These regions are regarded as part of both continents. The countries Armenia and Cyprus, which lie totally in Western Asia, are geopolitically European countries.

Oceanic Continent Maps

The Oceanic continent is a region centered on the islands of the tropical Pacific Ocean. The term is often used more particularly to denote a continent comprising Australia and proximate islands. Biogeographically it is used as a synonym for either the Australasian economic region (Wallacea and Australasia) or the Pacific economic region (Melanesia, Polynesia, and Micronesia, leaving out both New Zealand and mainland New Guinea). There are actually many opinions on what makes up Oceania. These range from its three subregions of Melanesia, Micronesia, and Polynesia to, more broadly, the complete insular region between Southeast Asia and the Americas, incorporating Australasia and the Malay Archipelago. Geopolitically, Oceania comprises of Australia and the countries of the Pacific from Papua New Guinea east, but not the Malay Archipelago or Indonesian New Guinea.

Maps of the South American Continent

South America is a continent found in the western hemisphere, mostly in the southern geographical area, with a relatively small portion in the northern geographical area. South America is bordered on the north and east by the Atlantic Ocean and on the west by the Pacific Ocean. The Caribbean Sea and North America lies to the northwest. It includes twelve sovereign states.
