The median age for males in 2016 was 37.5 years, and 41.4 years for females. The estimated growth rate of the Puerto Rican population in 2016 was -0.54%. Looking at life expectancy, the Puerto Rican people live an average of 79.4 years (males 75.8 years, females 83.1 years). Statistically, Puerto Rican women give birth to 1.64 children in their lifetime.
