Kentucky (KY) is also known as the Bluegrass State. The name Kentucky comes from an Iroquoian word "Ken-tah-ten" meaning "land of tomorrow". The date of admission to the Union was on June 1, 1792 out of Virginia (District of Kentucky: Fayette, Jefferson, and Lincoln counties). It is the 15th state to joining the other constituent entities. The motto of the state is: United we stand, divided we fall.
