Nevada (NV) is also known as the Sagebrush State; Silver State; Battle Born State. The name Nevada is Spanish meaning "snowcapped". The date of admission to the Union was on October 31, 1864 out of Nevada Territory. It is the 36th state to joining the other constituent entities. The motto of the state is: All for Our Country.

The total size of this US State is about 110,572 square miles. Therefore Nevada ranks in 7th place among all other US States in terms of land area. Actually 109,78 square miles are covered by land and 792 square miles are covered by water. The mean elevation is 5,5 feet. Nevada's highest point is Boundary Peak with a height of 13,14 feet. The lowest place is Colorado River, which is 479 feet. Its geographic center can be found in Lander County, 26 miles southeast of Austin. Nevada is bordered by the following states: Arizona, California, Idaho, Oregon, Utah.
